Candle Care
To keep a beautiful, long lasting candle, you will need to give it a little extra care by following the instructions below.
- Remove all crystals from the candle before it is lit. This is to keep your crystal from falling into the wax and keeping it nice and clean.
- Remove any dried flowers that are in close contact with the wick.
- The first time you light your candle, allow the wax to melt until it reached the edges of the vessel. This will prevent tunnelling and create a clean and even burn in the future.
- Never leave your candle burning for longer than 3 hours at a time
- Once the wax reaches half way down the candle, monitor the burn time and blow it out after 1 hour.
- Trim your wick before each use (once your candle has cooled and set again). Trim your wick to 1/4 inch long so that your candle can burn properly each time.
- Discontinue use when your candle reaches 10-15mm from the bottom of your vessel.
- Never leave your burning candle unattended.
- Keep your candle out of reach from children and pets.
- When your candle comes to an end, simply clean out the jar with hot water and detergent - and then you can re-use it. If you have a lot of excess wax, placing the candle in the fridge overnight will make this easier to remove.
Cleansing Your Crystals
It is recommended to cleanse your crystal around once a month. Cleansing your crystal clears it from the negative energies that it absorbs. There are many different methods you can use at home.
Water
You can run your stone under running water, or submerge and soak it in salt water. Natural sources such as streams or the ocean are best, but if you don’t have access to this, your faucet will be fine.
If you choose this method to cleanse your crystal, please be sure to check if it is hard enough to be soaked in water as there are a select few crystals that are too soft to be soaked in water.
Sun/Moon
The sun and moon are also powerful sources of cleansing. Set your stone on a windowsill or outside on the earth and allow them to do their work. Don’t leave them in the sun for too long, as it may damage the surface. A full moon is an especially powerful time to cleanse your crystals.
Sound
The ringing of a bell, tuning fork or soft chanting is also a great method you can use to cleanse your crystals.
